How to subscribe to the Podcasts

Option #1 Use iTunes

An easy way is to use iTunes from Apple.  If you do not have it already, you can download  it for free.

It's easy to subscribe to our podcasts using iTunes, even though they aren't available in the iTunes Store yet.

  1. To subscribe, first copy the podcast's feed URL "http://www.cob-greenvillemaine.com/sermons1.xml" (without the quotes!).

  2. In iTunes, click on the "Advanced" menu, select "Subscribe to Podcast" and paste the feed URL into the dialog box.  You will then see the sermons listed and you only need to click the "Get" button to download them. 

The download process can take some time - up to a half an hour each over dial-up, but much quicker over DSL.  You can continue to use your computer while this happens in the background.

You can transfer your downloaded sermons to any MP3 player or listen to them on your computer.  You can even copy them to a CD for playing in a CD player capable of playing MP3 files - such as in many new cars.

Option #2 Use Your Browser

Both Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers are capable of reading the Podcast feeds and automatically keeping you updated whenever a new sermon is posted.  You can listen to them by clicking on a sermon or download and save them by selecting "Save as" from the Right-Click Menu.  Once saved, you can transfer your downloaded sermons to any MP3 player or listen to them on your computer.  You can even copy them to a CD for playing in a CD player capable of playing MP3 files - such as in many new cars.

Internet Explorer:

  1. Simply go back to the Sermons page and click the button. 

  2. Click the "Subscribe to this feed" link in the top section of the page.

  3. Your Feeds will be available by clicking the "Favorites" tool which is shown as a star icon in the toolbar.

Firefox:

  1. First you need to install the Sage RSS Reader add-on http://sage.mozdev.org/install/ .
  2. Then navigate to the Sermons page and click Tools>Sage on the command bar.  Sage will open a new pane on the left of your browser window.
  3. Click on the magnifying glass icon to "Discover Feeds."
  4. Select "Sermons by Pastor Ron Reamer" and click "Add Feed" and then click "Close."
  5. Now you can click on the Feed listed in the Sage pane to view the available sermons.  You can check for new feeds by clicking the "Check Feeds" icon next to the magnifying glass.
